I thought I'd be able to retire my 20 year old 3 qt. Hamilton Beach cooker that I use only for cooking whole chickens (fits perfectly) but this Crockpot is not deep enough for a whole chicken---but it WILL fit a whole cut up chicken!
This thing is like a casserole dish on steroids. You can assemble your food in the 9x13 dish just like you are about to cook it in your oven. I made a batch of queso dip in this, normally I use my round Hamilton Beach crockpot but it's so deep that only the edges soften up first. With this rectangular shallow design my cheese and chili melted together perfectly without dried and burned spots in it!
I LOVE the very secure rubber gasket on the lid also! You can latch the top down with liquids inside and it's not going anywhere while you travel. I love the timer feature (something my 20 year old cooker lacks) I can't wait to use this at Thanksgiving and during entertaining, it will be perfect on the buffet on WARM to keep food ready to serve!!

UPDATE: Months later and I still can't believe how much we use this. My husband always grabs this one first if he's using a slow cooker recipe. Sure it's not that deep so you can't cook EVERYTHING in it but what it can do, is amazing. Another bonus I hadn't realized til lately is that the wide and shallow cooker design is perfect for meatballs or meatloaf. The deeper designs often make your meat boil in grease or liquid and this shallow concept actually lets your meats get cooked properly.
