The Hamilton Beach slow cooker was sent to me for free through Amazon's Vine program. I'm really pleased with its looks, performance and large 6 quart capacity and highly recommend it. This is a modern looking yet traditional slow cooker. It's traditional in that it operates by turning a knob rather than being digital and it has an earthenware crock (porcelain enamel coated according to the website) that fits into the metal base that has the heating element. I love the oval shape, easy to hold handles and contrast of the clean white color of the crock against the metal base. A nice glass lid rather than plastic (like my old Rival crock pot had) covers the crock and fits well.
The control knob is on the left side (rather than middle) and has 4 clearly marked options-- off, low, high and warm. The slow cooker comes with 5 sets of decorative wraps for the front and back to match it to your occasion -- which I think is very cute for a party where it will remain plugged in. I'm attaching a picture of the festive birthday wrap. Additional themed wrap sets can be purchased. The HB comes with a small recipe book for basics like pot roast and chili. The crock and lid are both dishwasher safe. I've used it for cooking twice now and it works perfectly. I followed my own tried and true pot roast and chili recipes and both came out great. The handles stay nice and cool and are comfortable for carrying the slow cooker, but the sides do get very hot. I'm really happy with this slow cooker and recommend it!
